    There’s still time to register for the winter Coles County Ag Breakfast co-sponsored by U of I Extension, Farm Bureau and Soil and Water Conservation District. Scheduled for Jan. 29, the breakfast will be held at the Stovepipe Restaurant located just off Rt 16 on the east side of Charleston.

    The Metuchen Senior Citizen Center is sponsoring a bus trip to the Taj Mahal casino, Atlantic City, on Jan. 27. The bus will depart from the Metuchen First Aid Squad, 1 Safety Place, at 9 a.m. and will return at approximately 7 p.m. The cost is $20 per person and includes a "coin return" of $20.     The Senate unanimously passed a revised fiscal year 2009 budget of $156.76 million yesterday during a regular session. Several senators said they had reservations in passing the budget bill but felt it was imperative to have controls in place.
